this is the opening scene to the movie world war z, where we can see a family in their car speaking; whilst being in traffic. moments later, through the car window, they see many people running and then an officer breaks the cars side mirrors. brad pitt, the main protagonist, storms out with confusion and then an officer pleads that he remains in his car for the families saftey. instantly after this a big track smacks him.

within this opening scene we can see there has been great use of camera positioning to reveal the true narrative of the cinematography. firstly, within the first 3 seconds of the clip the producer has utilized a establishing shot, which shows the location of the opening sequence and in order to allow the audience to know where this scene is being set at.

then moments later there is use of long shot, where the camera has been placed on the front car mirror, which allows us to see all the people in the car. which mother, father and 2 little girls sitting on the back seats. from the use of the long shot we can see that there is calm,peaceful and friendly enviroment in the car; where the family are playing games.

then there comes the part of the clip where the officer storms past the car and then hits the left side mirror, resulting to it breaking. there is use of close-up to brad pitts ,main protagonist, face. from the use of the close-up we can see that brad pitts emotions and attitude at what has happened. with extreme annoyance and frustration, he leaves the car to see whats going.

after leaving his car, there's an explosion far down the road and the producer has employed a long shot to illustrate this part of the clip. the use of the long shot allows audience not only witness the explosion but to also witness the people in clips quick reactions and overidding fear. the use of the long shot continues to next part of the scene, where everyone is running for the lives. the use of a long shot allows us to see the people running feet to show there speed to support the ideology of the fear they're experiencing at that moment of time.

a police officer on a motorcycle comes by his car and tells him to get back in his car. after entering his car there is use of over-the-shoulder shot. the employment of over-the-shoulder shot allows us to see the officer and witness both of their emotions at the same time. furthermore, the use of the over-the-shoulder shot allows us to see the scene where he is hit by a big truck.

WWW: There was a difference between the contrapuntal and parallel images, which allowed us to get clear understanding of the difference between them. The video that was selected to illustrate the images was very interesting itself because it showed calm music and bloody crime at the same time. The music chosen was unique and quite different to what others had picked. All of the images in the collage were explained

 EBI: I could have arranged the images to make it look more like a collage and select image that showed clear differences. Could have had more inferred contrapuntal images instead of obvious ones. Could have explained my choice of contrapuntal images a bit more

Within this film scene we can see that a man, dressed in a suit, has 2 men held hostage in a dark room alone. There's many blood and weaponry involved within this particular scene. However, there is great use of contrapuntal sounds, which allows us to to think more deeply about this situation. Firstly, this is brutal action scene but on the other hand calm, peaceful and classical music is being played. This isn't right as it doesn't fit well with the scene of brutality. Furthermore, the is use of both diegetic and non diegetic sounds. For example; the men speaking shows dialogue as so therefore evidence of non diegetic sounds. The use of the music at background and different noises show evidence of diegetic sounds. You could argue that there is use of sound bridge as the same sounds continues onto the next shot.

Within this image we can see low key lighting. The use of black is an example of low key lightning. In the background its pitch dark, this has been employed to make the central image and the smoke stand out as well as eye catching. In addition, pitch black has perhaps been utilized as a background colour in order to show that she powerful and a dominant character, this supported by dark shade covering half of her face.

The use of the bright light on the right side of her face and smoke in the image could represent an example of high key lighting. Also this is an example of under lighting, as it comes from below the central image; this is usually used for Horror movies. But as this isn’t a Horror it represents her dominance and position in the hierarchy. The under lighting allows us to vaguely see the location she is sat down smoking.

 Within this image we can see low key lighting. 3^rd of this image is pitch black and it covers most of the image. The use of the upper lighting in this image allows us to see the character within the image face. Also the shadow makes her face stand out.

  This is a black and white image, which shows evidence of low key lighting. Therefore, more filler lights are utilized and from this image we can see that it’s a sunny day.  Also, there’s an upper lighting on the right hand side of the image. Even though, this was a high key lightning image there was no use of shadows.

 Within this image we can see a high key lightning effect. This is because it’s more dark and gloomy. Furthermore, this shows contrast of dark and light, as in the background as well as the characters faces its bright light. The central image of the characters with a gun in his hand shows him to be dominant and strong. 

 Within this image we can see an example of low key lightning image. In the background we can see the shadow of the women in the central image screaming. Within this image we can see both upper and lower lightning. More filler lights are employed to make the central image stand out clear.

 Within this image we can see an example of high key lightning image. It is a very dark image with a glimpse of light coming from the window to allow us to see the characters actions. Furthermore, we can see a upper lighting, which is the window light. Also at the background of the central image we can see yellow lighting perhaps coming from room.

 Within this image we can see an example of low key lighting image. We can clearly see shadows of the four characters walking in a alleyway. In addition, in this image there’s back lighting. This back lighting allows the viewers to see that they are walking in an alleyway. Furthermore, due to lighting we are unable to see the characters faces.

The central image is of a young woman and we can vaguely see her face due to shadows.  This darkness illustrates danger and this is supported by the shock on her face. In this image we can see upper lighting coming from the right hand side.

 In this image we can see a low key lighting image. However, in this image we can’t see any shadows behind the central image. Furthermore, filler lights are employed in the background. This is black and white image and from this image she looks quite poor.

 In this image we can see a low key lighting image. There’s use of lower lightning edit, which results to the shadows formed behind the man and women hugging. Within the central image we can see they are in love.

Film language

The intended audience that this poster would be aimed at are for males over the age of eighteen that have a passion for blood-thirsty ‘shoot-‘em-up’ action movies. Movie posters use numerous styles, conventions and techniques to promote a movie. The first is the layout of the poster which is conventionally in the style of a portrait layout. The central image shows nine men with straight faces, holding automatic guns. From this we understand that  it's an action and thriller genre type movie. This is supported by the guns and knifes at bottom of the poster beside the white skull. The use of the colour black and red connotes that Expendables involves characters with different level of power and authority. The colour red suggests that its a 'bloody' movie with lots of murder.




From this movie extract trailer 'Smurfs' we can see its a cartoon movie aimed at an audience of three to twelve years of age. This is a mixed genre of comedy and family.  Its a happy film of five Smurfs and the peaceful life is disturbed by a wizard and a act. The smurfs are shown to be vulnerable when attacked. We can see that the wizard holds much more power and authority. The wizard is lonely and isolated in his little dark tent room.

From this movie extract trailer ' Ted' we can see its a man with a talking teddy bear aimed at an audience of 18+ years of age, as there are sexual scenes and swearing. This is a mixed genre of comedy and violence.  From this extract we can see that its a movie of a isolated as well as lonely man of is accompanied by a talking teddy. He life is ruined after meeting up with the teddy as he drinks too much and attends the strip club regularly.




From this extract trailer' Fast and furious 7' we can see that is squad which race around Dubai to complete missions set by the FBI. This is aimed at a audience of 15+ as includes many foul language and sexual scenes. This is a genre of action and thriller. From this extract we can see the main actor ' Paul Walker' tries to protect his family and quits all violence. But he has to continue as he's family is attacked once again, therefore he teams up and tries catch the villain. They use highly expensive technology and super speed cars of this century.

The boy with no fear
The colour scheme of this poster is light black and a bold yellow Italic heading.The use of the colours blue black and yellow hold many connotations, as the colour blue and yellow could suggest freedom and open. However, the colour black could also suggest there is dark side to it.The boy is looking in a hole, which suggests its very mysterious and the hole could perhaps hold many secrets.The title 'I'm not scared'  makes the reader think as the boy could actually be scared of going down the hole. In this still image the boy seems to hold power and dominance but fears the hole could brake his believe of not being scared.

Million Dollar Baby: 
Considering the position of the main actor is in, shows her to be very powerful and dominant. The background is faded black but you can vaguely see her shoulder muscles, which indicates that she's perhaps a fighter or gym workout. The lady is the central image of poster which
might suggests she's the 'million dollar baby'. The colour black is associated with power, elegance, death and evil. However, from this image we can understand that there's power hierarchy and many mysteries.  The faded face images on the right hand side and left hand side shows the interpretation that there's both evil and good.

Uzak:
This film poster shows a man standing beside a lake, this shows that he's a lonely and a isolated character.It shows the main character to be an outsider, who is distanced from reality and relationships.The revolting smoke packed in the city, suggests its a abandoned area. From the poster we understand that he is perhaps the main character within this film and carries out many mysterious.

Scary Movie 4:
The use of the colour black indicates that they trying to show a sense of evilness and death. However, considering Scary Movie 4's central image of 6 people with colourful props and exaggerating facial expression suggest its more of a family comedy genre film. The sue of the font at the top of the poster 'Absolutely Hilarious' instantly tells the viewers that is not gob-smacking horror typed film.The use of the different bright colour indicates that its targeted at teenagers.

Sin city:
The poster depicts a action film. The large gun they are all holding ready to fire prove this to us.Also, at the bottom of the film poster we can see a small city, which matches the title of the film, it lets us know where the film is going to take place, it is dark and raining. The use of the colour black makes us understand that this involves characters with overriding power and evil acts. Furthermore, the colour red gives the connatations that this film has scenes of both love and blood.

The use of the animated characters in the central image gives it a sci fi essence. But looking at the main character' Harrison Ford' gun shows that it involves action and murder.The movie name 'the blade runner' indicates that there's a race. Furthermore, the the women could be the enemy and tries to make Harrison ford mission unsuccessful. The use of the brightly lit lights in the city, shows where the film is going to be set.The use of the  colour black signifies power and evilness within the film 'The blade runner'.

Bride and prejudice
The use of the bright colours indicates that this a joyful and happy film. The central image shows a man and women back to back, both smiling, which suggest a romantic and comedy genre type film. The backgrounf shows lots of people celebrating.Considering the film name, prehaps they got married.
